HeatSmart Newton is a community-based, volunteer-led, clean heating and cooling initiative to help residents improve home comfort, lower their energy bills, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. HeatSmart is a grassroots program managed by the city and driven by a group of volunteer Newton residents. HeatSmart Newton is part of the HeatSmart Mass Program supported by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center and the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources.

Heating, cooling, and hot water from residential building accounts for nearly 60% of Newton’s greenhouse gas emissions. By promoting the adoption of efficient heat pump technology, HeatSmart Newton is working to help our community reduce its greenhouse gas emissions as we move toward our Climate Action Plan goals. 

To help Newton residents make the switch from fossil fuels to heat pump technology, HeatSmart Newton works closely with two vetted, partner installers: Muirfield Mechanical and New England Ductless. The HeatSmart Newton team, along with our partner installers, can also help you maximize your savings by helping connect you with the latest incentives and financing available for Newton residents. Together, the HeatSmart Newton program can help you access the best possible information, incentives and technology as you make the switch to clean heating and cooling in your home!
