Home Energy Assessments

6/15 Update: There's still time (and slots remaining) to get your free HeatSmart audit! Reach out to HomeWorks today for a no-cost HeatSmart Home Energy Assessment!

Getting a home energy assessment (or audit) is an important first step to reducing your energy usage and increasing the comfort of your home. In addition to learning more about how your home uses energy and receiving free energy saving products (such as LEDs and advanced power strips), getting a home energy assessment is a requirement for receiving not only the rebates and special financing options available for heat pumps (as discussed in the incentives section of the FAQs), but also additional rebates for home weatherization and improved insulation

Getting a home energy assessment is free (as it is already covered in your utility bill), and homeowners in Bolton Harvard have traditionally been able to get no-cost home energy assessments from Mass Save, the state's utility energy efficiency program.

As part of the HeatSmart Mass Pilot, the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center has selected the Bolton/Harvard campaign to pilot a new version of the home energy assessment that includes additional information on home heating and heat pump technologies. Bolton/Harvard residents will be eligible to receive a "HeatSmart Assessment" provided by HomeWorks Energy, the largest home performance contractor in the Commonwealth. This HeatSmart Assessment will include all elements of the typical Mass Save assessment (including free LEDs and other products!) as well as provide additional information on air and ground source heat pumps, the heating load of your building, and how weatherization and improved insulation measures could improve the performance of a heat pump system and the comfort of your home.

Participation in this pilot is not required to participate in the HeatSmart program, but receiving a HeatSmart assessment will satisfy eligibility requirements for: (1) the MassCEC heat pump rebate programs, (2) Mass Save weatherization and insulation incentives, and (3) the Mass Save HEAT Loan. Unfortunately, Bolton natural gas customers are not eligible to participate in the HeatSmart Assessment pilot, as Eversource is not supporting this pilot--though you are welcome to sign up with HomeWorks for a standard Mass Save Home Energy Assessment. Additionally, if you've received a free home energy Assessment from Mass Save within the past two years, you are not eligible to receive a free HeatSmart Assessment.

The HeatSmart Assessment is only available to the first 100 customers and will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Sign up today for your HeatSmart Assessment!
